Finally after weeks......a clear night.
The moon is MASSIVE and the conditions with high humidity are far from ideal, but as this is a 2 pane mosaic I knew that I'd get away with it..... 9x1800s in each pane, more data needed but it's a start.

FINALLY - Making some headway on this - I've been plagued with issues and non starters. Had a trip to the UK that took me out for a week..... Hopefully now I can make some progress....... This is only 7 subs in one pane and 5 in the other .... Onwards and upwards....
This is a 2 pane mosaic of NGC7822 taken with the ODK10. I am going to be using this target for a project that I have lined up with the shorter focal length Taks in narrowband. So I have decided to take the Ha data from the ODK and use the OIII and SII from the Taks later in the season. That way, this will be a colour image....... eventually.
Meanwhile this is 6x1800s in each pane..... much more needed. Here's an ongoing project .... probably the last for the ODK10 as the short focal length scopes will soon be going on in preparation for some big projects.
This is a combination so far of 28x1800s in Ha and 16x1800s in OIII and SII. Much more data required .... so watch the weather and watch this space Ever since first capturing this target I've always wanted to go in closer.... This year I decided to do it and so here is the start of the Tulip nebula...... I'm hoping to gather OIII and SII data and make this a Hubble palette image.
So far this is 14x1800s in Ha. After capturing 101x1800s combined in Ha and OIII for the Crescent nebula, I thought it may be of interest to show a comparison between the two lots of data.
I know that the outer halo is something of a difficult capture and it really does only show up in OIII........ The comparison is 50x1800s in Ha and 51x1800s in OIII. There really is some quite pronounced differences. I just wanted to check that all of the panes lined up and thankfully they do! Now I can get some serious data collected to get this one started.
Last night I was able to make a start on my OIII for M16 as well as there was one hour with no moon... That will increase by one hour a day now and of course the moon will be getting smaller too. Lets hope I get a nice run of clear moonless nights for a load of OIII on all my targets. Good to see that it will all join up - I'll get the final pane data just to check and then I can really go to town on the data for this.
Another start up !!!!
This is pane 1 and 2 of the 4 pane mosaic that I am doing on the Cygnus wall in NGC7000. I have wanted to do this since last year and with the ODK it should come out as I want. This is only 1.5 hrs in both panes at the moment. Another project started, but with good reason. This target stays pretty low and so I need to make a start on it while I can. It reaches 37 degrees at my location at best.
I have never been so excited about an image. This is an iconic target and I hope to do it justice. Only 6 exposures in the bag so far and only able to get a few hours a night on it...... watch this space! |
