I can't profess to having had a life long passion in astronomy, or ever having really looked through a telescope. I did however enjoy photography with DSLR's and assumed that the two would work well together and if I could do the former then the latter would be fairly straightforward.
How wrong I was ..... Armed with nothing more than a mild interest and some redundancy money an Astro retailer got me set up with my first kit. I didn't have a clue what I wanted, why I may even need it and certainly how it all fitted together. |
Moving to Spain in 2010, I knew I'd have ample opportunities to experiment and learn about astrophotography. And so the obsession began!
The single best addition to my AP has been the book 'Making Every Photon Count' by Steve Richards. This is an AP bible in every sense of the word and should be classed as an essential and initial purchase. This book will save you time and money in the long run....... but be prepared to end up having to reach deep in your pockets should the bug really bite! |

All of my learning has been done with the help of good folks on the internet and through internet forums. I've got one or two books of course! I've upgraded my equipment a few times and always vow that this will be the last time! I hope that you like my images and enjoy exploring my site. It would be nice if I was able to inspire you to look upwards and perhaps even go 'Wow' |
