Guide settings for the Avalon Linear Fast Reverse
People have asked me on many occasions what settings to use for the guiding the Linear Fast reverse mount.
I currently use PHD2 for guiding, but have used Maxim DL extensively as well. Avalon supply the Maxim settings as required for Maxim. It is worth looking at these as due to the belt drive used in the Avalon the min movement in RA and DEC should be set to 0 and this is something that many people I have spoken with find very odd.

Settings using EQMOD and PHD2
These are the current settings that I use in PHD2 and EQMOD. They work well and give me an imaging resolution more than adequate for my imaging rig.
As an indication and for your information I use an OAG in this instance and I am guiding a scope of 330mm. If you have a longer focal length scope then your settings will need to change.

PHD Log view
Here's a PHD Lof view of the 5h 10m guiding session (with the dithers removed) as viewed in PHDLogView. You can see the over all error in 5 hours, definitely sub pixel!
These settings are based on Avalon recommendations, specific for the belt drive of their products. It has a high aggression and low hysteresis - This will probably not be the settings that would suit a non belt driven mount.
