Sharpless 101 (Sh2-101) is a H II region emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It is sometimes also called the Tulip Nebula because it appears to resemble the outline of a tulip when imaged photographically. It lies at a distance of about 6,000 light-years from Earth.

This has been ongoing for some time! In total this is 54hrs and 15mins of total exposure. Using Baader RGB filters and Astrodon Ha and OIII filters.
This is a tricky target to catch, especially the faint outer shell. This is an mixture of the 4 pane Ha data taken with the ODK10 and the OIII data taken from a 4 pane mosaic that I did with the Takahashi FSQ85 about 2 years ago. This has saved me collecting equal amounts of OIII data to directly match the Ha data.
This is totalling 44 hours worth of total data (36hrs of Ha and 8 hours of OIII) This is my completed mono 4 pane mosaic of the Cygnus Wall complex. Taken with the ODK10, it needed a 2x2 mosaic to fit it all in. This is 18x1800s on each pane, so 36 hours so far.
You can see a larger version here This is my final version of M16 - The Pillars of Creation. It has been taken in bi colour and so only uses the Ha and OIII filters. In total this is 22 hours worth of exposure..... The data was pretty good and I didn't feel that I needed any more.
This has sat on the PC for days and day - It's such an iconic image - Can I compete with the Hubble image out there? I welcome your thoughts as I'm still not sure! This has got to be THE most iconic image ever taken by Hubble..... so no pressure then! This is a combination of 28x1800s (14 hours) in mono which I think stands up on it's own as a mono image. I will be capturing more data to create a colour image in due course.
You can see more about this image here Finally finished the Needle galaxy in LRGB. This was a nightmare to process and I'm looking forward to the narrowband stuff of the summer now.
